The Proposal
- 80 new houses on land at the edge of Hilperton.
- The site has had multiple applications (all refused) and the number of houses proposed is increasing. (37 proposed in 2022)
The Problem
- Greenfield site extending the village boundary into open countryside.
- The site sits on productive agricultural land, contributing to the gradual erosion of Hilperton’s rural character
- The application proposes a new spur to the existing Rugby club roundabout, adding a minimum of 160 car journeys a day and adding to thealready major congestion at rush hour.
- The site can be considered the ‘gateway’ to the land between Devizes Road and Whaddon Lane. Approval would likely enable easier access to other proposals e.g. Barwood.
- Concept plan clearly shows consideration for further development and access to other potential sites.
